Helping Older Adults Remain Independent, Connected, and Engaged

Supporting Independence at Home

Growing older shouldn’t mean losing connection to your community. For many older adults, giving up driving can create new challenges when it comes to accessing healthcare, groceries, errands, and meaningful social connections. Through Homebound Adult Services, trained volunteers provide personalized assistance that helps older adults maintain their independence, access essential services, and stay connected to their communities. Whether it’s a ride to a medical appointment, a friendly phone call, or help picking up groceries, these small acts of service can make a significant difference in someone’s quality of life.

Compassionate Transportation

Transportation to medical appointments and essential services helps older adults remain independent and connected to the care they need. Volunteers provide more than a ride—they offer companionship and support along the way.

Grocery Shopping Assistance

Whether accompanying someone to the grocery store or helping pick up and deliver groceries, volunteers help ensure older adults have access to nutritious food and essential household items.

Friendly Visiting

Regular in-person visits provide companionship, conversation, and meaningful connection that can help reduce social isolation and improve overall well-being.

Friendly Phoning

Volunteers connect with older adults through scheduled phone calls, offering friendship, support, and a reassuring voice on the other end of the line.

Paperwork Assistance

Volunteers can assist with reading mail, organizing paperwork, completing correspondence, and other simple administrative tasks that may become difficult with age.

Technology Assistance

Technology can help older adults stay connected with family, friends, healthcare providers, and their communities. Volunteers help older adults learn how to use phones, tablets, computers, email, and video calling platforms.

Minor Household Assistance

Volunteers can provide help with simple household safety tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and changing smoke detector batteries.
